FAQ

Q: What ages do you teach?

A: We work with swimmers from infants through adults, with most of our students between ages 2 and 12. Children under age 3 are taught in private lessons only, with a parent in the water for our youngest swimmers.

Q: How long are lessons, and how often?

A: Lessons are 30 minutes long, held once per week, year-round. We've found weekly, long-term consistency produces faster, steadier progress than short-term intensives. Our schedule is finalized one month in advance — early registration is recommended.

Q: What's the difference between private, semi-private, and small group lessons?

A: Private is one swimmer with one coach — fully personalized pacing. Semi-Private pairs two swimmers of similar age and ability with one coach — our most popular option. Small Group is three swimmers with one coach — still well below industry-standard ratios. All formats use the same coaching, the same approach, and the same 30-minute lesson length.

Q: Why do you recommend semi-private over private?

A: Most children actually progress faster in semi-private than in private. They get built-in rest between attempts, which means higher-quality effort each turn. They develop social confidence in the water alongside skill confidence. And there's something powerful about watching a peer try something hard — it builds courage in a way one-on-one instruction can't replicate. We pair carefully by age and ability so both swimmers benefit.

Q: What happens at the free evaluation?

A: New swimmers are invited to a complimentary 15-minute evaluation so we can see them in the water and place them appropriately. There's no pressure and no charge. Children enrolling directly in private lessons don't need an evaluation.

Q: How do I register?

A: Email us at admin@popsiclepier.com and we'll send you our full enrollment packet — including registration steps, schedule, pricing, and everything you need to get started. We respond within 24–48 hours, Monday through Thursday.

Q: What should my child bring?

A: Please arrive 10 minutes early. Dressing rooms and bathrooms are available on-site.

  • Swim diaper: Required for all non-potty-trained infants and toddlers

  • Goggles: Not required, but most kids prefer them

  • Wetsuit: Suggested for babies who get cold easily

  • Towels: Please bring your own — towels are not provided

Q: What's your cancellation and makeup policy?

A: Cancellations must be submitted in writing before the next billing cycle begins to avoid further charges. We do not offer refunds or credits for missed classes unless due to inclement weather, facility closure, or coach absence. In those cases, we'll schedule a makeup class based on availability.

Q: Do I need to be a Morgan County resident?

A: No — we welcome families from anywhere. Non-Morgan County residents pay an additional facility fee of $25 per quarter, per family, charged through our regular billing.

Q: I have another question — how do I reach you?

A: Email is our preferred contact: admin@popsiclepier.com. We respond within 24–48 hours, Monday through Thursday. Closed Fridays and Sundays.
