SCHEDULE INFORMATION
What is Month-to-Month Scheduling? Our month-to-month scheduling allows you to maintain your preferred lesson day and time without the commitment of long-term contracts. You can continue your lessons on a rolling basis until you provide a two-week notice of your intention to take a break. This gives you the control to tailor your swim lessons to fit your needs.
Can my child swim more than 1 time per week? Absolutely! Consistency plays a crucial role in learning, and repetition helps to accelerate the learning process for kids.
Do you offer makeup lessons? At Popsicle Pier, we aim to provide exceptional swim lessons to all our students. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we rent the pool and hire instructors based on the number of sign-ups, we are currently unable to provide makeup lessons. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and are grateful for your cooperation with our policy. Thank you for choosing Popsicle Pier for your swim lessons.
What if I need to take a break from swim lessons? To ensure a smooth experience for all students, a 2-week cancellation notice is required if you need to take a break from your swim lessons. After the 2nd lesson of the month, we will send out an invoice for the next month, and if you would like to take a break for the next month, then you will need to let us know before the 3rd lesson. This allows us to accommodate another student and maintain our small per-coach ratio.
When are Popsicle Pier's scheduled closings? A calendar of all planned closures for holidays or other reasons is available here. This provides a clear outline of the schedule and helps families plan accordingly.
What happens in the event of an unplanned pool closure (bathroom incident, power outage, etc.)? In case of unexpected pool closures, each student will be provided a makeup lesson to compensate for the missed session.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
How long will it take my child to learn to swim? The speed at which a child learns to swim depends on various factors, including their starting age, natural ability, and confidence. However, kids in Popsicle Pier are known to learn three times faster compared to similar group lessons.
How long will it take my child to be safe?
While achieving mastery in any skill, including swimming, may require thousands of hours of deliberate practice, our primary goal for your child is to help them become proficient swimmers who can safely navigate open water environments, such as lakes and oceans.

We understand that safety is a top priority for parents, and we are committed to helping your child develop the skills they need to stay safe in any water situation. Our aim is to help your child become proficient swimmers who can easily swim long distances, maintain their technique and control in the water, and respond effectively to unexpected water-related emergencies.

While the exact amount of time required for your child to achieve proficiency in swimming may vary depending on their individual abilities and learning style, our programs are designed to help children make steady progress toward their goals. Typically, children can achieve proficiency in swimming, equivalent to a black belt in martial arts, within 2-4 years of regular practice and lessons.

We believe that with consistent practice and repetition, your child can develop the muscle memory, technique, and confidence they need to become proficient swimmers and enjoy open water environments safely. Our lessons are tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, and we work with parents to set achievable goals and track their child's progress over time.

Equipment
Are goggles required for swim lessons, and will we practice without them? Goggles are not required for our swim lessons but are highly recommended. Providing your child with a pair of goggles can significantly enhance their comfort and confidence in the water, particularly when it comes to one of the essential skills of learning to swim - getting their face in the water.

Goggles help protect your child's eyes from water, which can often cause irritation, especially in chlorinated pools. This extra protection makes them feel more at ease when submerging their face in the water, which is crucial in mastering various swimming techniques. Additionally, goggles can provide a clearer vision underwater, enabling your child to see their surroundings more clearly and further enhancing their overall comfort and swimming experience.
However, we understand the importance of simulating real-world swimming scenarios where your child might not always have access to goggles. To ensure our students are prepared for such situations, we do incorporate practice sessions without goggles during our swim lessons. This approach helps build confidence and adaptability in our young swimmers while still emphasizing the benefits of using goggles when possible.

Why do we start with fins when learning to swim in our Adult classes?
Starting your swimming journey as an adult can be intimidating, especially if you're not comfortable in the water. At our swim school, we believe in providing our adult students with the tools they need to build their confidence and develop their swimming skills. One of these tools is the use of fins.

Fins, or swim fins, are a type of swimming aid designed to be worn on the feet. They come in various shapes and sizes but generally have a long, flat blade extending beyond the foot. Fins work by increasing the foot's surface area, allowing more water to be displaced, resulting in greater propulsion.

We recommend starting with fins for our adult students for several reasons. Firstly, fins can significantly boost your confidence in the water. By wearing fins, you'll notice a substantial increase in your speed and mobility, making it easier to move through the water and develop your swimming technique.

Secondly, fins can help you focus on your body position and balance. With the added propulsion, you'll be able to maintain a more streamlined body position and feel the flow of the water around your body. This increased awareness can help you identify any areas of weakness in your technique and work on improving them.

Lastly, fins can be an excellent tool for building endurance. By reducing the amount of effort required to move through the water, you'll be able to swim for more extended periods without feeling fatigued or out of breath. This increased endurance can help you progress faster in your swimming journey and enjoy your time in the water more.
To ensure you get the most out of your fins, choosing the correct size is essential. We recommend the Dolfin Swim Fins as a great option for adult beginners. These fins are made with high-quality materials and feature a flexible, ergonomic design that conforms to your foot shape for a comfortable, snug fit. To purchase the Dolfin Swim Fins, you can visit the provided link at SwimOutlet.
In conclusion, starting your swimming journey with fins can be an excellent way to build your confidence, improve your technique, and build endurance. Our experienced instructors can guide you through the process of selecting the right fins for your needs and ensure that you get the most out of your swimming lessons. If you have any questions or concerns about using fins in your lessons, please don't hesitate to ask our team.
