FAQ

Q: What ages do you teach?

A: We teach all ages, from infants to adults, with the majority of our students being between 2 and 12 years old. Children under 3 receive private lessons only, often accompanied by a parent in the water.

Q: How long are lessons, and how often?

A: Lessons are 30 minutes long, held once per week, year-round. We've found weekly, long-term consistency produces faster, steadier progress than short-term intensives. Our schedule is finalized one month in advance — early registration is recommended.

Q: What's the difference between private, semi-private, and small group lessons?

A: Private is one swimmer with one coach — fully personalized pacing. Semi-Private pairs two swimmers of similar age and ability with one coach — our most popular option. Small Group is three swimmers with one coach — still well below industry-standard ratios. All formats use the same coaching, the same approach, and the same 30-minute lesson length. Children must be 3 and older to participate in semi-private or group lessons. A free evaluation is needed to determine class placement.

Q: Why do you recommend semi-private over private?

A: Most children progress faster in semi-private lessons. They get built-in rest between attempts, which means higher-quality effort each turn. They develop social confidence in the water alongside skill confidence. And there's something powerful about watching a peer try something hard — it builds courage in a way one-on-one instruction can't replicate.

Q: What happens at the free evaluation?

A: New swimmers are invited to a free 15-minute evaluation, allowing us to assess their skills in the water for proper placement. There’s no pressure or charge involved. Children enrolling directly in private lessons are exempt from this evaluation.

Q: How do I register?

A: Please email us at Admin@popsiclepier.com, and we will provide you with our swim lesson information, including registration steps, schedule, pricing, and everything you need to get started. We respond within 24–48 hours, Monday through Thursday.

Q: What should my child bring?

A: Please arrive 10 minutes early. Dressing rooms and bathrooms are available on-site.

  • Swim diaper: Required for all non-potty-trained infants and toddlers

  • Goggles: Not required, but most kids prefer them

  • Wetsuit: Suggested for babies who get cold easily

  • Towels: Please bring your own — towels are not provided

Q: What's your cancellation and makeup policy?

A: Cancellations must be submitted in writing 2 weeks before the next billing cycle begins to avoid further charges. We do not offer refunds or credits for missed classes unless due to inclement weather, facility closure, or coach absence. In those cases, we'll schedule a makeup class.

Q: Do I need to be a Morgan County resident?

A: No — we welcome families from anywhere. Non-Morgan County residents pay a facility fee of $25 per quarter, per family, charged through our regular billing.

Q: I have another question — how do I reach you?

A: Email is our preferred contact: Admin@popsiclepier.com. We respond within 24–48 hours, Monday through Thursday. We are closed on Fridays and Sundays.
